Encompassing the tip of the Iran, Strait of Hormuz which separates the Persian Gulf from the Oman Sea, Kish and Qeshm islands – has long been known as a shopping destination, rather than a sporting attraction. Historically, these islands have always been a thriving seaport and, where there are ships, there are shipwrecks – lots of them. The location of Qeshm island (exactly inside the Strait of Hormuz) gave it the unique access to in and out of the Persian Gulf and and historically made it an important and strategic place among all islands in Persian Gulf and Oman sea with a wonderful nature and Mangrove forest on the sea. And On the east coast, the shorelines and reefs are virtually untouched and prime for exploration. But, it’s the mysterious whale shark – locally called al djer – that flock to these waters that has put Iran on the map as a dive destination.
